A quick business meeting provided the perfect excuse to head to the big city early.  This time, Ricky and I purchased The New York City Pass combined with the Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Tours.  Although I am not a huge fan of large tours and standing in lines (we picked up our passes upon arrival) I will admit that we saw a lot of the city in a short amount of time.  It’s the perfect way to orient yourself to the area and maybe even a nice gift for someone who has recently moved. The NYC Downtown Tour and the Uptown and Harlem tours were quite educational.  We were fortunate and had good guides for both.  If you try it and have a poor guide, get off and catch the next bus. The Pass includes several points of interest, including Rockefeller Center, Top of the Rock and The Empire State Building. We like tall buildings! The Empire State Building with Aladdin Travel and Meeting Planners in Winston-Salem, NC Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is something NOT to miss.  Baby Boomers will know EVERY song and the actress who plays Carole King, Jessie Mueller, is amazing.  So is the rest of the cast.  Ricky and I were glad that our friends had suggested that we go.  You won’t be disappointed! Meals are always enjoyable in the city…lots of choices!  We had lunch at the Premier Deli Café and thoroughly enjoyed it. Upon leaving, we noticed the line beside us for the Carnegie Deli.  Obviously, a place tourists swarm… we were QUITE happy with Premier Deli and will gladly return. Other dining experiences included REMI, a nice Italian spot before the theater… nice and worth visiting but not again and again.  Artichoke Basille’s in Chelsea serves a Dining at Salinas with Aladdin Travel and Meeting Planners in Winston-Salem, NCFABULOUS pizza.  DELICIOUS. We ordered WAY too much and we WILL visit it again, but not until we try the lobsters at The Lobster Place in Chelsea Market. Go to The Shack in the Back… decisions, decisions…pizza and lobster, two wonderful finger foods! Salinas, a Spanish restaurant in the middle of Chelsea was a pleasant experience and well worth visiting.  Order the calamari, you will always remember it. We managed to squeeze in tours of MOMA, AND the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  Allow time for this!  The free apps they offer added to my experience (I thoroughly enjoyed the tour for youth!) and I look forward to returning.  FAO Schwarz was entertaining and I’m sick that it has closed! Oh to be young again! We enjoyed after dinner drinks at Faces & Names and will happily do that again.  It was half a block from our hotel, The Blakely, a classic boutique hotel, located close to the theaters and Times Square. We enjoyed walking to most venues and used Uber for longer distances. I am growing quite fond of Uber. As always, my “next time” list for New York continues to grow. We’ll have to go back.  Sally
