Spring break is not taken lightly for students in college and it shouldn’t be.  Albert Einstein said, “Learning is experience. Everything else is just information.” Nobody wants FOMO (fear of missing out), and if you’re sunk in a culturally-enhancing-adventure, you definitely won’t be vulnerable. Let your boggled mind revitalize by experiencing one of these unforgettable spring breaks:

1.)  Peru

Unwind your test-taking brain while treating your body to some healthy experiences this Spring break in Peru. There are many places where a selfie-stick is completely unacceptable, but on top of Machu Picchu? It is more than fine. Imagine horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, river rafting – all of the things that your body craves but  you can’t do because your time is spent in the library. Utilize your lingual tongue by chatting with some locals in the native market, and make friends with a llama along the Andes Mountains. Then take a stop at Manu National Park, which holds some of the most diverse species on the entire planet. After hiking, satiate your appetite with a chocolate churro, washed down with a pisco sour, Peru’s famous drink with egg whites. The variety of fauna and climate changes from hot swampy lands to the tippy tops of mountains, make Peru a definite destination for anyone interested in biology, a different culture, yummy food and fun activities.

2.)   Galapagos Islands

Galapagos Islands, Ecuador

Off the west coast of South America’s Ecuador, crystal-clear seawater envelops the tropical Galapagos Islands. There are actually 13 islands born from fire; they formed via volcanic activity which continues to erupt. Each island inhabits a vast number of marine and land species for your eyes to ponder, including adorable sea lions and seals, the only penguins found north of the equator, all sorts of turtles, flamingos, and boobies! How the plethora of species arrived on these islands is still quite the marveling mystery. The variety of flora found on the islands does not take a backseat to the animals. There are seven general categories of vegetation on the islands, all carrying a complex mixture of plants; some of which are only found on the Galapagos Islands. After Charles Darwin’s visit to the Galapagos Islands in 1835, he came up with the theory of evolution by natural selection. I wonder what this stunning longitude-latitude equation will inspire you to do?

3.)  NicaraguaMukul Nicaragua

Immerse yourself in Spanish culture while in Central America, in the charming-yet-exquisite country of Nicaragua. Wrapped in oceans on its two coasts, Nicaragua has a chain of gorgeous lakes formed by volcanic action. Sail atop these glorious waters and admire the mountains in the distance, allowing for a great panoramic snapshot. Stay in Bohio or Villa at Mukul Resort, steps away from the Emerald Coast, like the happy couple pictured above. Nicaragua is also home to Granada, one of the most jaw-dropping medieval cities known for its unique architectural structures. Be sure to hit Nicaragua before the rainy season slops in! A trip to Nicaragua in the spring is definitely the time to go.

4.)  French Polynesia15319969153_be2d50ce3b_b

With white, black and pink (Yes, pink!) sand beaches, prepare to get wet when you dive into the bright-blue sea amongst dolphins, fish, turtles and more creatures. Did I hear somebody say “let’s snorkel?”  If you manage to stray from the soft sand beaches, and out from under the sun warming the sultry coral reef lagoons, head on over to The Central Market. Here you will find anything from hibiscus flowers and native crafts to yummy fruits and island treats.
