For anyone who has ever dreamed of owning their own yacht but can't afford it, SeaDream may be for you. Their tag line? “It's yachting, not cruising.” It couldn't be truer!
A little bit of background...
I have been on dozens of cruises, yet do not consider myself a "lover of cruising". I can't stand forced revelry or the muster (cattle call) on larger ships. I am not a fan of doing the same thing with that many other people. Not to mention, the older I get, the more motion sickness rears its ugly head. That said, as a busy person and one who appreciates efficiency, there are some places that really are better visited by boat.
Jason and I realized soon after our wonderful honeymoon at Jumby Bay that an entire week on a mostly deserted island, a perfect way to recover from wedding chaos, was not our idea of fun for regular vacations. Places like the Caribbean, the
Riviera and the Greek islands, with small ports and beautiful beaches, lend themselves to the one day stops that traveling by boat makes so easy. We adore the Caribbean and there are so many islands we haven’t visited. Hence, this year, we decided to vacation on SeaDream I
After embarking in Antigua, ports of call will include St. Barth, St Martin, Anguilla, Virgin Gorda, Tortola, Peter Island and San Juan where we will disembark. Armed with Bonine and my Psi bracelets to prevent any possible seasickness, I am excited about this adventure. Whether or not it will convert me to a lover of yachting remains to be seen.....
