Faith’s Trip to Jordan (Part 2)

Beach lovers will need to head down to Aqaba, Jordan's coastal city located on the famous Red Sea. Many people don't realize the waters here are crystal clear and famous for its coral reefs. There are great snorkeling opportunities here. I will never forget the sunset! I was floating in the waters of the Red Sea. I could see Jordan, Israel and the lights from Egypt all at the same time. The Muslim call for prayer from a nearby mosque could be heard. It was overwhelming.

Another must see is the Dead Sea. Located at the lowest spot on earth, it is 400 meters below sea level. Here you will find people from all over the world, smearing their bodies with the black mud from the shores of the sea. Because of the salt and minerals, the mud and waters have curative properties for many skin conditions. Due to the extremely high salt content, you simply cannot sink. In fact you can lie on your back and sit so high up in the water you can safely read a newspaper and not sink. One word of advice, don't splash in the water. If one drop gets in your eye you will not soon forget the burning pain!

Finally, if you are the least bit interested in history and religion…you will want to see Mount Nebo, where Moses looked across the Jordan Valley and first saw the Promised Land; the Jordan River, where Jesus was baptized; Jerash, where Jesus turned water into wine. There are too many to mention!
