Expensive or Complex Vacation? Travel Insurance is Your Friend!

Is an anniversary in your future?  A monumental birthday?  We celebrated our 25th anniversary four years ago and my monumental 50th is right around the corner.  One might speculate how someone in the travel industry celebrates….travel!

Months before our 25th anniversary, we booked a Windstar Cruise in the Greek Isles. Half of the fun of traveling was in the planning and reading about the upcoming experience and plan we did! We were set to go… until a cancer diagnosis re-routed and delayed us for 2 years.

Being re-routed is an everyday occurrence, especially in the world of travel and especially if you are in an airport….but what happens when you haven’t even packed?  Did they really mean “non-refundable”?  The answer to this question is yes…unless, you have purchased travel insurance.

The idea of insurance is well known.  You can insure your house, cars, jewelry, health,  electronics, x-box games, pets AND TRAVEL. 

Why insure travel?  Earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, tornadoes… and sometimes, doctors give you good reasons to cancel.  Complex and expensive vacations should be insured. Our Greek Isles cruise WAS insured and we cancelled....postponed.  Refundable?  YES!

Did we have fun on a Windstar Cruise in the Mediterranean for our 27th Anniversary with money refunded by our travel insurance?  You better believe it!   SS
