Emily on Grand Cayman

After a week at the Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman I am feeling relaxed and renewed! Grand Cayman is one of the prettiest, cleanest safest Caribbean islands. It is what so many people expect the Caribbean will be: long white sand beaches, crystal clear blue water and palm trees everywhere. People are friendly, English speaking and it's very easy to get around. Here is a shot of the hotel from the beach.

Even though they drive on the left hand side of the road, renting a car is a great way to see the island and to eat at all of the fabulous restaurants. Our favorite was Luca, located just down the beach from the Ritz. The view of the sunset was spectacular and while the food and service was 5 star, they welcomed our table of 7 (including two very messy little ones) and made us feel right at home. The same can be said for the Ritz Carlton. Every where we went our children were welcomed and taken care of by the staff. They have pack and plays by the pool and kids menus at all the resort restaurants. While the hotel has some quiet spots (the spa and the off-beach pool in particular), in general it is a very family friendly resort. Add to that the nonstop flights to Grand Cayman from Charlotte (only 2.5 hours!) and I could not think of a better family vacation destination!
