I have been to NYC many times, but my most recent trip confirmed that fall is the very best time of the year to visit. Past trips included getting stranded by a blizzard and stuck in a friend’s apartment (window AC unit only!) during a heat wave. THIS time, the lovely fall weather was welcome and ideal for getting out and exploring the city. By exploring, I mean eating!
Our trip included meals at old favorites, including Dos Caminos, for a margarita and guacamole, and a stop at the newest Tribeca location... Sarabeth's... a favorite brunch spot. Always on the lookout to develop new favorites, we also dined at Corsino. It was affordable and tasty...my favorite combo! We split a number of small plates and entrees, although the hot apple tart with vanilla gelato was really my favorite part of the meal.
To further satisfy our sweet teeth, we stopped to refuel after a morning of shopping at a brand new cupcake place in Soho, Molly’s Cupcakes . Their center filled cupcakes melt in your mouth and the charming set up includes board games (Scrabble anyone?) and bar stools that are actually swings suspended from the ceiling. It is a friendly, happy place, unlike some dark over-crowded, over-heated dessert destination alternatives I have visited on previous trips (think Max Brenner at Union Square). Molly's has cookies, coffee and other desserts too if you aren’t a cupcake addict like I am!
This past weekend proved to me that New York City improves with age and never lacks for new places to explore...and by that I mean... eat! EDV
