After a delightful 24 hours in Marblehead, Massachusetts, we headed north to Bretton Woods, New Hampshire to be guests of The Mount Washington Hotel. The weather was perfect, the drive, beautiful and the hotel in the distance….a grand sight.
A quick lunch at Stickneys (The second lunch in a row with a beautiful view!) gave us the boost we needed to jump on the ever so convenient shuttle to the Bretton Woods Canopy Tour. What an experience! It’s a “do not miss” activity, no matter how old you are.
Bretton Woods and the Mount Washington Hotel have a plethora of activities for families of all ages. Hiking, swimming, mountain biking, wall climbing, the Williwaw Racing Zip (also included in The Canopy Tour), a climbing wall, lift rides, Frisbee golf, regular golf, tennis, outdoor chess (life-size), fly-fishing, horseback riding and of course, a spa. Winter activities include downhill skiing, cross country skiing and ice skating... just to name a few. This grand hotel must have been a blueprint for cruise ships. Just like cruising, “passengers” can get on board and all needs are met.
Our afternoon of activity was followed by a stroll on the grounds, drinks on The Veranda overlooking Mt. Washington and then a fine dinner in The Dining Room. At times I had a hard time with accents, but the service was quite good! Dinner was followed with more strolls around the property and a quick visit to The Cave. We ended up slipping out before the party really began, but met several people coming in as we were headed to bed.
The next morning, we toured the meeting facilities and learned just how accommodating this grand hotel can be! Large group? Small group? Family reunion? Anniversary? The Omni Mount Washington Hotel!
