Our last day was spent anchored off of Jost Van Dyke. We spent the morning on a snorkeling tour to Norman Island, a.k.a. Treasure Island. Supposedly the home of buried pirate treasure, it is hands down some of the best snorkeling anywhere in the world. The seas however were rough and the wind kept us from fully enjoying the caves that are supposed to be home to the treasure. However, all was not lost! We docked in a protected bay around the corner that was home to a charming little beach bar.
The water was as clear as any I have ever seen and full of sting rays, tarpon and pelicans that dove into the water right next to you as you snorkeled. Once we returned to the Sea Dream I, the “Champagne and Caviar Splash” for which they are famous, was underway. The staff converted a beach shack on Jost van dyke into a full on picnic shelter complete with roasted pig and every gourmet side imaginable! Champagne and caviar were served on the beach and everyone spent the afternoon enjoying this almost deserted island.
It was a magical way to end our trip. EDV
