Heading back to Dublin, we had to see one of the most visited sites in Ireland… the Rock of Cashel in Tipperary. This special place is a collection of medieval church buildings and fortresses and so rich in history! It was also recently visited by the Queen of England. Well worth a visit!
Upon arrival in Dublin, we visited the famous Trinity College and the Book of Kells. Also very impressive was the Long Room at the Library in Trinity College, which houses the book of Kells and other ancient manuscripts.
Our hotel this evening was the Maldron Cardiff Lane, another 4 star property that was more modern than our previous hotels and located across from the theatre for anyone interested in seeing a performance.
We enjoyed dinner at O'Sheas Pub. The fish n chips were quite tasty as well as the Irish burger. We also enjoyed the Irish music and the company of the nice people we met in our group!
A late flight allowed some free time in the morning to take a walk and a few last pictures of the city near the water front bridges. It was very cold and windy. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at the Maldron Cardiff Lane, which also gave us a box of chocolate as a departing gift!
A few notes:
** Keep in mind that Dublin is a very large city. Be careful. Ask the hotel staff if sites are in safe locations.
** Small bottles of liquor and wine can be purchased directly in the vending machines in the hotel hallways.
** The Dublin airport is quite modern and very clean. There are lots of nice shops and restaurants in the waiting areas as you wait for boarding so you can still vacation!
** We loved our Irish experience and would go back again!
** Ireland is not only a beautiful island and country but it also has some of the friendliest and fun loving people we have ever met. They helped us immensely! TL
