Before you begin, make sure you have a good driver! Our driver (Doni) was very informative as we traveled around the Ring showing and explaining the history and interesting spots along the way. On longer portions of the drive, he played Irish soundtracks which lightened our moods and made the trip seem magical. At times, the whole bus would break into song. Treat yourself to Irish coffee and visit a local merchant/gift shop.
Lunch was enjoyed overlooking the Atlantic Ocean along the Ring of Kerry. Several photo stops were made in addition to a visit to the Kerry Bog Village Museum. We heard about the history of the Bogs of Ireland and saw a Bog Village, just as it was in the very early 1800's.
We stopped at the Muckross House and Gardens for photos and some took a horse drawn carriage back to the hotel. Others returned by motor coach and enjoyed free time until dinner. Note: A beautiful little church, St. Mary’s, is just across the street from the hotel… very impressive stained glass windows, worth a visit inside for pictures! TL
