A delicious buffet breakfast at the Newpark Hotel began our day. Some of the usual items included scrambled eggs, toast, muffins, rolls, cereals, fruits and juices. Note: "bacon" is actually country ham. Sausage is on every breakfast menu along with black pudding, white pudding and scones. Black pudding’s main ingredient is blood mixed with oats, salt, onions and spices. Minced liver is substituted for the blood in white pudding. Goldilocks would enjoy an Irish breakfast…porridge was always on the buffet. Needless to say, we enjoyed a hearty breakfast and then headed to Killarney.
We stopped at Blarney Castle and kissed the Blarney Stone. We walked through several gift shops and visited the Blarney Woollen Mills. Souvenir #2: Handmade woolens! Try the Irish coffee at the Mills or a pint of Guinness.
Our two nights in Killarney were wonderful. We stayed at the Killarney Towers, in the heart of town, within walking distance of all the shops and pubs. Music played throughout the streets as we shopped and lights sparkled throughout. There are some nice pubs to enjoy the magical sounds of Irish music. Visit Sheehan’s, a.k.a. Killarney Grand. It is steps away from the hotel front door, has great music and a lively atmosphere. TL
